Free of snow the entire way. Took a class 3 route to the top. Found an easier way down, and headed back to Big Meadow. Cool weather, and the recent snow had melted off nearly everywhere in the area already, except north facing slopes.

Combined with Taylor Dome for a day hike. The final 2nd class slab was fun.

Up the east face route, down the north slope. Part of a fantastic weekend running around the Domelands wilderness area.

East Ridge
With Wes, Shannon, & Erin out of Big Meadow. Descended via boulder field on the NW. Attempted to climb Taylor Dome solo on the return but the snow covered slope soaked my shoes and made my ascent attempt a reckless proposition.

From Big Meadow
Great views of Domeland Wilderness made an otherwise hot and dusty hike worthwhile. On the descent had a close encounter with a 3 foot long rattle snake.

Big Meadow
Up the east side from Big Meadow after Taylor Dome in the morning. There was 3-6" fresh snow on the ground from the previous week's and day's storm, but it was melted off in the area east of Manter Meadow.

Fun day out from Big Meadow. Hadn't seen anyone during the approach and then right at the start of the climb - BAM! some dude was there. I'm sure it was out of left field for both of us. I stopped and let him enjoy the summit alone. Then went up after he decended.

another after-work hike from our trail crew camp at Manter Mdw. Beautiful spot, and we couldn't help but simulate the cheesy Domelands Wilderness map cover photo:

Hot Dusty Dayhike
On a very dry season, the ground was collapsing beneath my feet from what seemed like a lack of moisture in the soil.

No problems with route-finding on the return visit, although I have to wonder now why I didn't look around the northwest side of the peak when I struggled last year... it's pretty darned easy (even easier than the east side, which seemed spicier than I remembered).
I love this area... I'll need to come back again for some of the technical climbs and harder scrambles on Church Dome, Bart Dome, Stegosaurus Fin, etc.

An enjoyable warmup day, tagging this and Taylor Dome before the long Angora/Coyote hike the next day. Domelands is a highly enjoyable area, and the meadows were awesome (especially Manter Meadow). Trip Report
A long, but very doable, dayhike from Big Meadow. Great views and perfect weather. The first storm of the season rolled in the next day so we had good timing as well.

Spent a couple of hours messing about on the West Face and South Face, but never found an easy route up either. Eventually had to give up and head around to the easier east side. Great views. Pics/TR on my webpage.

Warm day in early June.Pleasant hike in lightly overcast and very warm weather. Scrambling was really quite fun, and required more particular movements than I'd expected.
