Invisible rope

Hi Jurgen,

nice position, I just wondered as you seem to be inserting an ice screw, where is your rope?

Hello Johnnie, we didn't use a rope untill this point. So the rope is still in our backpack. From here we decided to use the rope.

We were soloing untill this point. We used this screw for our belay. So for the next section we did use a rope :-).

Really nice! But man, it looks like an uncomfortable place to take off the pack, get the rope out, etc. But I guess you can clip into the screws while doing that.

The snow was pretty solid, so it was comfortable to stay just below the ice. And, one does need some ice for screws.. So consider this point as a compromise :)
