This is a pleasant afternoon scene typical of the Blair Creek section of the Ozark Trail in southeastern Missouri. This picture is taken near unofficial campsite C3 as shown here. May 2008.

Well, it's certainly well-watered. Well-endowed in ticks, too, I might add.

When the trees are leafed up (as now), you have to get used to a much smaller field of view most of the time (except along bluffs). As a transplanted Westerner, it has taken a while to get used to it -- but it's not without its pleasures.
