Parker Mountain

Overview

Parker Mountain overlooks Grass Valley that sits 3,300 feet below to the west. It is the highest point that marks the western boundary of the Awapa Plateau of Central Utah. The maps of the area are confusing and not consistent in the labeling of features in the immediate vicinity. Some names thrown around are Pine Peaks, Parker Knoll, Parker Peak. The most prominent feature is the north-south mountain/ridge called Parker Mountain, and this is present on most maps. Parker Mountain, as defined by this page is the highest point of this larger geographical feature. 

Getting There

Drive along UT-24 from Richfield for 34.7 miles. Turn south onto an unnamed, fairly well-maintained dirt road and drive 11.6 miles. Turn right onto another rugged, rocky road requiring some moderate clearance. Drive this for 1.3 miles before turning right again onto a faint dirt road. Take the right at the fork after 0.2 miles and make it as high as you can up to road.

Route

From the last fork in the road, travel by foot or vehicle to the end of the road where it ends at the edge of the woods. The summit is only a few hundred feet through the forest to the west. The highpoint should be obvious once the landscape gives way to the precipice below and Grass Valley is visible.
