Lake Placid and High Peaks

Lake Placid and High Peaks

Page Type Page Type: Album

Introduction

In July 2010, we spent three days in the town of Lake Placid intending to day hike and visit several different areas. But with the exception of the first evening we were rained out so no hiking! We were rewarded with some wonderful mountain views that one evening and definitely intend to return to visit in the future.

We stayed at a delightful motel which provided a perfect, tempting view of the High Peaks as well as the Olympic High Jump towers. This quiet town even in mid July had small shops, a pretty park in its' center with a view of Mirror Lake and a friendly, local brew tavern which my husband quickly attached himself to! We ate some good sushi, walked in town, drove through the lakes area and absorbed Adirondack atmosphere.

Nice Job

You always bring back some real memories for me. We used to camp up in Keeseville just below Plattsburg near Lake Champlain. Ausable Chasm, horseback riding near Whiteface and Pale Face Mountains. Good Stuff! Thank you for sharing.

Re: Nice Job

Sounds like some great places to camp and ride! Guess we are kindred travel spirits. Thanks for enjoying my photos!

Parents

Parents refers to a larger category under which an object falls. For example, theAconcagua mountain page has the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits' asparents and is a parent itself to many routes, photos, and Trip Reports.
