Great day for hiking, this is an easy 14er compared to Long's peak, but it's still no piece of cake, had a good day and hiked over to Torrey's the same day.
Route Climbed: Grays Peak Trail Date Climbed: August 28, 2005
OK, this is a 14er, and its a pretty cool trudge. The Dannon guide is kinda outdated on road conditions up to the Mitchell Creek Trailhead. This road currently is too rough for most passenger cars if you want to keep your oil pan intact. I bottomed out near the beginning and barely managed to escape back to the small parking area near the Interstate. We caught a ride up in a 4x4 SUV. The road had several spots further up where it was even rougher. This is a very centrally located 14er and you can see many, many prominent mountains from this summit. To me, identifying these was the most fun. And we saw several friendly mountain goats close up!

What a perfect day for a view from the summit. My sister (Amy Klassen) and I (Dave Lambertz) hit the trail at 0700 and made it to the peak by 9:30. Snowed a little on the way up but by the time we made it the view was absolutely perfect 360 degrees. On the summit we met two guys who had been there for a little while; one had summited Everest three times and will be making an I MAX movie about the Eiger in september, and the other had just summited his first Fourteener even though he is on the waiting list for a heart transplant! What a day, my first fourteener as well, and i loved every grueling second of it... Thanks for coming out with me sis
Route Climbed: Gray's Peak Trail -- Steven's Gulch Trailhead Date Climbed: August 14th, 2005
Summitted Gray's around 9:30 in the AM in a cloud. Not much view, but a good sense of accomplishment. A few other hikers were there and it was very friendly.
Route Climbed: Standard from trailhead Date Climbed: July 27, 1992
Hiked with my sister and ran into a great herd of mountain goats including several little ones. Fun!
Went on to Torrey's as well.

Surprised to be the only person on Grays on Memorial Day before 10 A.M. Slogged through the knee-deep snow before reaching a windblown summit ridge. Surrounded by fog on the top for 5 minutes. Actually made Grays a cool excursion!
9/4/16- grays and torreys with alexis. clouds moved in while we were above 13,000' and we received some snow on torreys!
Route Climbed: Grays Peak Trail Date Climbed: July 30, 2005
Left the campsite at 0330 so that we could reach the summit by sunrise. We were at the summit by 0600 for a beautiful and typical Colorado rising sun. The trail up is very easy to follow with many switchbacks. We were the first people on the summit this morning. Spent about 40 minutes at the top before traversing over to Torrey's Peak.
More pictures from the traverse that I haven't posted on here can be seen here.

6th and favorite CO 14er. Nothing like strong High Pressure to keep the rain and storms away. Summited with clear, beautiful skies at 3:00 pm and enjoyed this last summit before headin back East to VA.
Route Climbed: Grays Peak Trail Date Climbed: July 7, 2003
This is a crowded mountain because of its relative ease and it proximity to Denver & Summit County. This was true an the July dat that we hiked Grays & Torreys. With this being said, the throngs of people did not take away from this majestic mountain. These two maountains are two of the best in Colorado and not to be missed.
Route Climbed: Stevens Gulch Trailhead Date Climbed: May 20, 2002
My first combo. Experienced mountain lighting for the first time. Holding hands and feeling the current through the body was exhilarating unitl my head started popping. Number 2 on my list of 14ers. HIked with Uncle Jack, Shane and Trent, and Gawdun
Route Climbed: Chihuahua Gulch Date Climbed: August 13, 2004
Did this and Torreys together via the Chihuahua Gulch TH. Didn't see another person until we reached the summit and saddle. Great day - loved the less traveled route.
