Had perfect weather and climbed Torrey's shortly after. We were greeted at the top by very curious mountain goats!
We picked up a friend from the Denver airport and headed straight to this mtn. The hike was enjoyable and we did run into some of the famous mountain goats. The glissade down was certainly the highlight!
Good way to combine two 14ers. Much more interesting than Lincoln Bross and Democrat
Grays and Torreys via the standard Grays trail. Overcast day and started to rain a bit. Trail very crowded.
in succession with torreys via kelso loved it
Did Grays after the Torreys summit via the Kelso trail. These were my first solo 14er hikes and the Kelso trail made it all worth it...really enjoyed this route up. Was second to summit Torreys that day, saw a lone mountain goat...got out before the rain came.
In conjunction with Torreys.
because this was my third climb of Grays. Did it back in Sept. of 1992, my 8th 14er) then again in Sept. of 1997 (when I included Torreys). This time, it was to write off unfinished business for my wife, who had tried it in '92, but turned back without summitting. This time, she bagged both peaks. A gorgeous day.
Summmitted from the Grays-Torreys saddle, after Torreys. Saw some tame mountain goats on the descent.
Beautiful day. Climbed to the summit, then to Torreys, then back up Grays.
Worth the extra drive. Didn't see anyone until the top.
First 14er ever and it kicked my but.
We hitched a ride to the trailhead because our Civic was not going to make it. Beautiful hike!

Day trip fro Denver.
This is the one that got me adicted! At this point, I've now done 20 of them, but I have a special place in my heart for Grays (I did it again on 9/11/05 as well) - a gently and pleasant hike. A great starter peak.
I know, three weeks ago I said I'm done. So when a friend wants to climb an "easy" 14er and also doesn't want to get up before 6am? Dial up Gray's Peak. Now I'm done.
Came from Torreys (via Kelso Ridge - nice route), then tagged "The Rascal", and Kelso Mtn. Great day out with some fun people.
Started from Horseshoe TH around 10,500 (my Saab did not like the road). Long walk up the road and quick ascent up SW slopes to Grays, then down and up to Torreys. Long descent back over the top of Grays and down to the car.
Two of the easiest summits in Colorado. Went up Torreys first then Grays.
