Where did you apply for that permit?

I wanted to traverse Maramures border range on skis last winter, but plans have changed then...

Nice to hear from you. I remembered your trip to the Vaser valley this year in summer and autumn and I was lucky to reach km 42 next to Comanu stop by the freight train. After that I did the most arduous trip of my life a 70 km border section of Marmarosh Mountains. I tried to gain a permit in UA, but it is hard to negotiate with their bureaucratic approach. Romanian border police was very kind to me. Please, be patient, just now I am working on Marmarosh Mountains stuff, that will be split into several SP pages. Are you interested in TR?
