Spring Hike
Very muddy and some snow, but we expected that. Hiked up Gould Trail to AT and then back down the Chesire Harbor Trail. Trailhead was a little tough to find. The summit is under a lot of construction so it wasn't as pretty as we had hoped.

Hiked to the top of Greylock via Thunderbolt and the AT. Skied down to the base. Full snow cover all the way down.
I finished my 2002 AT section hike from NJ - MA atop Greylock. Sun, and great weather.

Summitted during my Appalachian Trail thru-hike. Kinda windy and rainy--didn't linger on the summit for long.

Thunderbolt Trail
My wife and I met fellow SP member puma concolor and his Dad at 9:00 AM. Hiked to the summit via the very steep Thunderbolt Trail on a gorgeous Fall day. Nice hike with some new friends. HP #26.
My third time to this summit (I have been to 49 state high points. ), but this was the best view by far -- great weather, too bad we were a few weeks too early for the famed New England color show. Also the first time I've hiked up Greylock, rather than taking the road. Hiked the Cheshire Harbor Trail, only saw 5 people all afternoon.
The Cheshire Harbor Trail, starting from the end of West Mountain Road in Adams is the shortest way to the summit for hikers. Parking area is at 1560', so this is a nice 1900+' vertical hike in typical Berkshires woods on an old road bed.
The posted description makes it sound a lot harder to find than it is. From Adams Town Center simply go up Maple Street past the large cemetary, turn left onto Friend Street/West Road (at the corner of the cemetary), then the second right is West Mountain Road, also signed "Greylock Greenhouses". The trailhead is just past the nursery, where the pavement ends.
Hiked it with a friend who went to nearby Williams College. Went up the Lightning Bolt trail, a steep ascent from the eastern side. The sun was setting as we reached the top and it was fogged in once we got there.
I think you are right. It is called the Thunderbolt Trail. I was trying to recall by my memory but apparently it is not as good as I thought it to be. Thanks for the correction.
Started a 2 week AT hike heading south in Vermont and this was the first challenge.

Summit Number Twenty
Hiked up the Cheshire Harbor Trail and AT to the summit. Overcast, chilly, and windy at the summit. Actually had to put on a jacket. Views were a little obscured due to weather but another beutiful New England summit nevertheless.
