We camped at the fork, and so were the first ones on the mountain. Fresh snow had fallen, so we blazed the trail up the last 1000 ft. Snowshoes were extremely helpful.
Typical Sawatch Peak, but with a pleasurable top out and spectacular weather for being among the giants.
The E ridge was a nice walk (and uncluttered with people). My hopes re getting a lift down the Cottonwood Pass rd from the Denny Ck TH back to my car at the Avalanche Gulch TH were largely forlorn. Finally got a ride when I was about half a mile from Avalanche Gulch. I didn't realize how close I was, and felt bad for stopping the guy....
Beautiful day in the mountains with Greg and Colette. Loved this mountain but don't leave anything unattended when you begin the scramble. The marmots take whatever is available.
With Michelle. High winds.
Kicked off the day before, made it to the top with Cody and Kristen
With a great group of people! Used the microspikes, hardly anyone else on the trail. Windy up top.
Climbed standard route - fun, short hike with great views of Buena Vista.
Good route with no one on it! Beautiful fall day with some light breezy winds
the last scramble up the ridge makes for some great pictures if you're on the summit looking down at your friends coming upwards.
East Ridge, second ascent of Yale. Only a handful of people on this route and not to many people on the summit, the benefits of starting early and doing a less popular route :)
Climbed with rkymtn, on our first wedding anniversary, and had fun with Boomer Brown Dog on his first 14er.
Just went for an evening hike not intending to summit at all... weather was so nice I just couldn't turn around. Nice mountain and very cool summit!
With Bergstrom, camped at trailhead. Mexican the in Buena the night before!
Bad case of food poisoning that didn't kick in until the descent... Learned a lot about what I can endure on a hike.
Pretty good trip.
Gorgeous foliage all around. Great hike. I used my microspikes on the descent from the summit to the ridge. Others were in tennis shoes and seemed fine, but I know they were slipping more than me. Can get around snowpatches up until that last summit approach from ridge.
