Bearclaw is the bigger one on the left, yes? I really wanted to finish the one we were on, but it wouldn't have been safe for my old hiking buddy.

Anyone been up to Alta Peak lately? Wondering where the snow line is by now. Thanks!

I was up there in April and it wasn't an issue then; should be a clear trail to the top by now.

The main summit spire (I think it is called gandalf peak)? via the knife edge palisade crest route and up the 4th class ramp.

I think I was camped across from you @ Ediza and followed your tracks up the saddle. We ended up going up Banner. Did you go up the the north face of ritter? We weren't sure if the snow in the chute would complicate things.

At Lower Lamarck Lake yesterday, I was post-holing with snowshoes.

lol, this is why I am holding off on Sierra stuff still.

Palisade Crest isn't in Sierra? Interesting....

Why did you only do 1/12 pinnacles up there? It is supposed to be a really fun traverse.

Because the summit was our focus and goal and we dayhiked it. If I had more awesome partners like Vitaliy, I could do things like the evolution traverse.

Lots of snow out there still, but its melting off fast with very hot temps.

Palisade crest pinnacles are not very clearly defined/pronounced. Devil's Crag pinnacles, on the other hand, are very much so.

Posting other people's photos without credit is not very fun either.

Sorry, didn't realize (forgot) it was yours. I have one that I took which is very similar and had multiple photo files of the crags on my computer. This one I took on approach to T-Bolt a few summers ago.

I didn't go to Evolution last weekend. Found a partner last minute and did a 20 pitch 5.11 route instead (and some other climbs). Will spray about it on 2 sites....oh wait, already spraying here, so I guess 3....ummmm plus facebook. You got it, 4 sites!

By the way that arete on Devil's crag looks really cool. Would be awesome to do a traverse of those pinnacles. Would be down to do that when I come back from Peru if someone is keen.
