Hmmmm.... Since my last post on this thread, much has indeed evolved throughout the area I live and climb in.

Even got an incredible charm of an opportunity to put up a couple of Classic Routes up high in the BC of the Eastern Sierra with old Brutus and Nurse Ratchet.

Have also done several dozen anchor/rebolt projects since then and have encountered untold number of retro'd mank etc. Even have had folks come right behind us days later and steal anchors, chop/add bolts etc.

I have since given up caring as myself and folks that I have assisted in these projects can not keep up with some the BS that has been occurring in our area.

Hell, even found out a week or so ago that a challenging and rewarding FA of mine out in the desert I did some 16-17 years ago has a slew of added bolts to what was once bat hooks and rivets.

Thanks for re-posting this Rob..... just reconfirms the obvious for me.

Wow, this thread reminded me that at one point in time people used to talk about climbing here, not just walking.

I always thought IfItsNotAtLeast5.8ThenYoureAPussyPost.org was a great website. It's a shame what happened to it.

Who makes the call? You make the call. Climbing is the most personal of sports. You make your own rules and you climb by your own rules. Who cares about anybody else's opinion on your climbing technique. It's your climb and the only thing that matters is your impression of it. That's the beauty of mountaineering, nobody but you is judging your performance.
