Has Metolius Gone Soft?

by erykmynn » Mon Nov 09, 2009 6:59 pm

Seriously.

I bought some teeny, (but climbing-rated) Metolius 'biners the other day.

Guess where they were made? Not good 'ol USA, but TAIWAN!

Now they're on the same page as everyone else, using overseas labor.

Last I bought BD 'biners they were made in USA, but I suppose this crap changes on a daily basis, I know BD makes their cams overseas.

I visited the BD plant in Salt Lake last month, and we saw them make biners, crampons, ice screws, cams lobes (but they are assembled in China) and a few other things. I don't know about Metolius.
