Scrambling sounds a little scary but I guess a hike could be enjoyable

Just don't forget to apply sunscreen, especially at elevation. Made that mistake once. Luckily, the sun was coming in from the side, not head-on.

Best thing about naked climbing is that I can self-arrest without an ice-axe.

Birthday crack in your birthday suit at Devils Lake? Anyone, Anyone? I was going to do it one year but the only belay I had was my sister. That would have just been...uncomfortable. Would be interested to see if anyone with a winter birthday has done this.

With my wife I hiked a segment of the Crest Trail in the Huachuca Mountains (AZ) nekkid. It was in the 90s and I was plain old hot (as in thermally). Various flies and insects suggested that some parts of my body should not get bit as much as other parts. So I put back on my shorts. Then not 5 minutes later we come across two Mexican Nationals hiking south back to the border - coyotes most probably. Boy that would have been a scene had we come upon them, me as I was. The whole day was a crazy border-patrol keystone cops epic.

I gather naked climbing became something of a Vulgarian tradition in the Gunks (Williams was an early Vulgarian). Since my recollections of the Gunks include poison ivy, black flies, and wasps in addition to vertical/overhanging rock for relatively easy routes, this practice is scary in more ways than one.

Eeeeeeeeewwwwwwww.

I can safely say that the vast majority of the folks I've summitted peaks with, bless their sweet hearts, I have zero interest in seeing any more of.

In fact, many of them should stick to winter mountaineering for the full coverage offered.

NO THANKS!

These people climb naked, and they really do climb: http://www.stonenudes.com/2010-gallery.html

Note: NOT SAFE FOR WORK

From the site: "Stone Nudes: an extract of the art of climbing. Intended to inspire and celebrate the human form. Stone Nudes draws from the community it represents. Over the last ten years, a body of over one hundred photographs drawing from three generations of climbers has evolved.

Unlike current climbing media, these images do not seek to sell or promote anything beyond the experience. This approach has attracted climbers of all abilities to participate in a project designed to capture the essence of the climbing spirit."

Do I climb naked? Been there, done that, got the T-shirt but I didn't wear it because I was naked! It was a full moon on the 3rd Flatiron over Boulder.

Every time I hear that SP cliche, I think about my 20 July 2002 Telescope Peak hike. And it was actually my left hip that got the sunburn.

Telescope Peak in July is great for hiking naked. If nobody else is parked at the trailhead, you know you have the trail to yourself all the way up. That is, unless some asshole is crazy enough to hike 11300 feet up from Shorty's Well in July.

You can get seriously injured going to 11300' on Telescope... like Icarus.
