Feel for you guy. I'm still recovering from torn achilles so I know what it is to hobble around on crutches for months. Let it heal up good though; I pushed my recovery and I paid for it. Patience.

No worries, Rick. I can just throw you in my pack and haul you up when/wherever you want. It'll be good training weight.

It'll be awhile before PT enters the mix, but Mountain Impulse is right on the money when he says to be a patient patient. I know, I know, coming from me, it doesn't mean much.

I say time to work on your book!!

Great big moosie hugs,

The foot surgery went about as well as could be expected though one or two things couldn't be salvaged.

I was wondering the same thing. Toes?

Haha no, just the femur and tibia.

Seriously, the rock hit his ankle, so it was "one or two things" in there -- cartilage and whatnot.

I mean, the guy is a cyborg, so it was a bolt, two gears, and a solenoid.

I thought only kryptonite could hurt Superman?

Wishing you a speedy recovery so you can continue to defy the laws of human endurance and continue to inspire and mystify us all.

Wishing him a speedy recovery!! Not much else he could've done; just wrong time and place.

I can't believe he is sitting at the drop-in, smiling just after the accident!

Rick, I'm so sorry to hear about your ankle, but I'm glad you're OK! Hopefully the hardest part of your recovery will be to not get back on the ankle too hard and too fast. Perhaps some of us mortals can hike with you more to slow you down :-)

The frankenfoot photos are pretty cool:
http://rickkent.net/ViewerPlus/viewer.aspx?FolderID=925

A group of us were commenting a few months ago about ugly hiker foot - black toenails, calluses, etc. I said something like, "If you do this enough, you're bound to have these issues." Then someone points out Rick as the perfect counterexample. Not a blemish on his ten pretty little nails, no bone chips or spurs, not a single blister. Rick smiles.

After seeing the above photos, I'll take my blackened nail, thank you.
