Walked up on a couple f**king under a tree just down from Glacier Point once.

Others? Elk, moose, a grizzly, pikas, marmots, mule deer, a mountain lion...I think I already mentioned the guy trying to kill himself in the Spring Mountains...a skunk ape, when I was a kid, golden eagles...

While camping at Shi Shi Beach (Olympic Coast, WA) a skunk tried to climb in Eric's sleeping bag with him. Acting as a good friend I spotted the skunk with my headlight and then offered to paste it with a rock in order to scare it off. Eric declined my offer.

This little guy came across on a short hike near Heather Meadows at Mt. Baker on June, 3rd 05. He was not even 15 feet away and busy chewing some "salad greens"

The coolest critter I've spotted was a Pine Marten, scampering over the moraine on the Palisade Glacier. Very graceful animals. The funniest is a tie between the bear that got stuck between two boulders by our camp near Tuolumne and a pica that tried to walk across a steep snow slope and kept rolling down the hill.

Dave and I saw a rather beefy black bear in Summit Meadows a couple of months ago, he was actually ass-glissading! This past weekend, we ran across a hobo on North Forth trail!! That's a new one for me!

Yesterday as I was approaching the Crane Flat area in Yosemite I was thinking to myself that It was funny that I have seen many bears but never in Yosemite, famous for them. Well, I reached the intersection at Crane Flat and there were dozens of cars pulled over and dozens more people all standing looking at the the meadow on the west side of the road. You guessed it, a pretty fair sized black bear.

I remember once watching a Bobcat in Anza Borrego. I was sitting up on a boulder and it was out in the desert. When it would stop moving I could only see it 'till I blinked. Then it was invisible until it would move again.

I've seen Mountain Lions in the Sierras twice, plus the usual bears. I love seeing Falcons and Eagles.

Last summer at Courtright Reservoir I finally saw the rare and mysterious Aplodontia.

I saw a California Condor while driving home from the Central Coast one day. There were a gajillion cars pulled over on the road, and lookie-loos with cameras milling about. At first we just thought it was another crop-circle cult, but then we saw the bird sitting on top of a big boulder. Man those things are big!
