Rex Overview King
This valley, very important for the profile of cultural history, but also from the topographic point of view & toponomastic with some names worthy of investigation. But also for its ancient Stories & Legends of Remote Times.
The Toponimy
As for the place names are a Bocon d'Amon, the Mont Delà, the Tower Moussaillon or Moutsaillon, the Peradzà, the Rosa dei Banchi and Col Laris or Arial, The Real, Re Tempio or Templum Regis also Temple of the Redemptio which definitely creates curiosity or a real interest.
We would like to translate the name of a mountain pasture, the mountain behind the mountain (Mount Glacier), two unknowns with Peradzà more directed to the patois de Cogne into adjacent in West valley, the Rose of the rocky Banks, where Rosa not signified of Glacier nor of the Rose Flower but rather, in dialect of Aosta Valley little known, "Reiza" or a place very cold. Last but not least the Larìs Hill or ancient Salassian name as Arial capable of differentiating their, today "uncertain", road used to enter and occupy Aosta Valley, according to some Historians. While, on the Reale or Royal Lake owes its name to the fact that it is derived from the eponymous pasture, wherein the King which whom he had decided to open a mine of argentiferous galena or at least took in turn is named after the King of Sardinia to carry out some "samples excavation" important.
Finally, last but not least Miserin that, taken from the Latin as in Cogne Miserino, really miser, that is poor and as such addressed more Soul than to the body ...

The Sanctuary will stand in front of you restful and quiet, just above the green hill into a dark forest, and its doors and wooden benches assume to a medieval appearance. Far away in time. A time that historically goes back to 1700 when it was founded a Chapel which in later centuries has become a Sanctuary, where the 2 of July making a Procession able to venerate "Our Lady of the Visitation", as higher up the Miserin, to 5 August, we celebrate "Our Lady of the Snows". Nothing special for a very religious valley on the other side of the Torrent Ayasse, above the Salleret, Petit and Grand Rosier and Mellier small Villages, in the North above the Valley of Boccoueil and the Municipality of Issogne on the border with the Central Valley of Dora Baltea, has an Oratory, to Santa Anna (1696m), it also intended to become short time in the Sanctuary.
As we said, up to here nothing extraordinary. It becomes interesting when we go to visit the same with more attention, because, alongside the signs of Christianity, we find other details that project us in a time much further away in the direction of the beginning of life from the inhabitants of this place. A stone altar, or better, a rocky pulpit, just below the Church, carrying us to Ancient Legends from the Great Pyramid of the Sun to the Pyramid of the Moon, from the Moche in the Great Temple of Pachacamac, mirroring those of the Zapotec and Toltec passing since Maya Civilization until the Aztecs and other peoples devoted to human sacrifice rituals with burnt offerings and to obtain a favorable providence on the part of the Gods. Divinities terrible at two-hour walk from Pont Bozet at an altitude 1470 metres, where the Torrent de Brenve rushes in the Ayasse. Not before they had formed the "Ravine also Gorge of Ratus". But that's another story though is related to the previous Legend ...

As we said, up to here nothing extraordinary. Do not delay because the darkness will come soon and when you pass again horrid Ratus Gorge a sense of dark tremor invade you bringing you back centuries.

Questa valle, molto importante per il profilo storico-culturale, ma anche dal punto di vista topografico e toponomastico con alcuni nomi degni di indagine. Anche degna d'una ricerca non soltanto per antichi fatti storici, spesso ricadenti ed ormai sfioranti l'oblio profondo, ma pur per "riesumar" sue Remote Leggende.
La Toponomastica
Per quanto concerne la toponomastica troviamo un Bocon d'Amon, il Mont Delà, la Torre Moussaillon o Moutsaillon, la Cima di Peradzà, la Rosa dei Banchi ed il Col Larìs od Arial, il Lago de la Reale, Re Tempio o Templum Regis oppur anche il Templum Redemptionis, cioé il Re del Tempio, il Tempio del Re od anche il Tempio della Redenzione, che sicuramente creano delle curiosità se non un vero e proprio interesse. Ci sentiamo di tradurre con il nome d'un alpeggio, il monte dietro il monte (il monte dietro al monte, che é il Mont Glacier), due incognite con la Peradzà più rivolta al patois della vicina Val di Cogne, la Rosa delle Banconate rocciose, dove Rosa non significa Ghiacciaio né tantomeno il fiore della Rosa, ma piuttosto in un valdostano tanto antico quanto sempre più poco conosciuto un luogo "reizà", ovvero veramente alquanto freddo. Buon ultimo il Colle di Larìs o con antico toponio dei Salassi di Arial atto ad individuare una loro strada, oggi "incerta", utilizzata per entrare ad occupare la Val d'Aosta, secondo alcuni Istorici. Mentre per quanto concerne il Lago della Reale deve il nome al fatto che é derivato dall'omonimo alpeggio, alpe che prendeva a sua volta il nome dal Re di Sardegna il quale aveva deciso di far aprire una miniera di galena argentifera o per lo meno di effettuarne alcuni "assaggi di escavazione" piuttosto importanti.
Buon ultimo il termine Miserin che, preso dal latino e come a Cogne Miserino, significa povero, cioé misero e come tale rivolto più all'Anima che non al corpo ...

Il Santuario starà davanti a voi riposante e tranquillo, appena sopra la collina verde nella foresta oscura, e le sue porte e le panche di legno assurgono ad aspetto medievale. Lontano nel tempo. Un tempo che storicamente va indietro al 1700 quando é stata fondata una Cappella che nei secoli successivi é diventata un Santuario, dove il 2 del mese di Luglio si effettua una Processione atta a venerare "Nostra Signora della Visitazione", come più in sù al Miserin (2578 m), al 5 di Agosto, si festeggia "Nostra Signora delle Nevi". Nulla di speciale per una valle molto religiosa che dall'altra parte del Torrent Ayasse, sopra i Villaggi di Salleret, Petit e Grand Rosier e Mellier, a Settentrione al di sopra del Vallone del Boccoueil ed il Comune di Issogne al confine con la Valle Centrale della Dora Baltea, presenta un Oratorio, di Santa Anna (1696 m), anche esso destinato a trasformarsi in breve in Santuario. Come dicevamo, fino a qua niente di straordinario. Diventa invece interessante se andiamo a visitare il medesimo con maggiore attenzione, perché, a fianco dei segnali della Cristianità, scopriamo altri particolari che ci proiettano in un tempo decisamente più lontano in direzione dei primordi di vita da parte degli abitanti di questa località. Un altare di pietra o, meglio, un pulpito roccioso, subito appresso alla Chiesa, ci trasportano ad antiche Leggende dalla Grande Piramide del Sole a quella della Luna, da quella di Moche al Grande Tempio di Pachacamac, che ricalcano quelle di Zapotechi e Toltechi passando dalla Civiltà dei Maya agli Aztechi e di altri popoli dediti ai sacrifici umani con rituali olocausti e per ottenere una propizia provvidenza da parte degli Dei. Terribili Divinità a due ore da Pontboset a quota 1470 metri, ove il Torrent de Brenve si precipita dentro l'Ayasse. Non prima d'avere formato l'"Orrido del Ratus". Questa é altra storia anche se si ricollega a precedente Leggenda ...
Non tardate ché presto farà buio e quando passerete nuovamente presso l'Orrido Ratus un senso di scuro tremore vi invaderà riportandovi indietro nel tempo.

Specific Main Road from Bard & Hône towards Pontboset & Champorcher-Dondena
From Bard (566m; Austrian/Piedmont Forteress) on the State Road, crossing with a large bridge the Dora Baltea, towards the adjacent Hône Municipality (364m) at the beginning of Champorcher Valley. Ascending in parallel and above the Ayasse Torrent reach the Pontboset or Pont Bozet (775m) Commune.
From Pont Bozet (775m) to Champorcher Valley, Camporcher-Château (1427m), Petit, Grand Mont Blanc, La Cort Villages, towards Dondena Village (2092m), Dondena & Miserin Refuges, through Royal Road & secondary dirt roads; Barbustel Refuge, through Royal Road and path towards Champdepraz Vallon.
- From FRANCE: through the Mont Blanc Tunnel to Entrèves-crossroads to Vény/Ferret Valleys - Mountain Guides of Courmayeur - La Saxe Rock Gym - Courmayeur. By Little Saint Bernard Pass, closed since November until half May to La Thuile Valley - Pré Saint Didier - Courmayeur.
It is not necessary to take Motorway A5: you can drive on State Road n° 26, in the direction of AOSTA - IVREA - TURIN.
