Went up Kelso Ridge with Eric and Alex today. We 4 wheeled (fun!) up the road to the trailhead at night, slept in the Jeep and began at 7am. Shit ton of people on the trail, but very few on the ridge. The ridge itself was very fun. Went on over to Grays afterwards. 4 hr 15 mins car to car.
hiked this along with Grays
Jogged up most of the way with a few walking breaks. Combined with Grays. 3:13 car to car
Made a big loop on a bluebird day by going up the south ridge of Kelso, across Kelso Ridge to Torreys, over to Grays, down the south ridge of Grays to Ruby. Long day but avoided the huge masses of people on the trail. The knife edge on Kelso is fun, but too short!
Would like to come back much earlier to do the couloirs.
Left Los Angeles on Friday and climbed Grays and Torreys on Saturday.
Climbed mid-week around July 4th; Also nabbed Grays at the same time.
Hiked in from 70 because road was in terrible condition. Slept .5 mile above trailhead.
Found this mountain a little more interesting. Looks like some fun ski routes on the face.
Done together with Greys Peak. Easy hiking.
A quick side trip from Grays.
Standard route, crowded Saturday and still a ton of fun.
Via Emperor Col, 5 1\2 hours RT with beautiful conditions. No problems at all and one of the best Glissades I've ever done, over 2000' solid glissade
From Stevens Gulch via Grays
Spent two days approaching from Loveland Pass in winter, the non standard routes up Grays and Torreys are great.
Cool adventure. I was 12.
Fun climb up kelso in winter conditions. Third time up, winter conditions definitely the most fun.
A very fun scramble in the company of my Uncle.
A great day with perfect conditions made this climb a very enjoyable one - did kelso ridge with my roommate, fun stuff!
