Did this one along with Grays. Followed the standard route up the Grays Peak Trail to Grays, then over to Torreys and back down. Great day!
Though it looks like a harder peak from the trail, i would definitely say Grays was the tougher of the 2.
Got the summit on my 2nd try. Hiked from I-70 since I did not have a high clearance vehicle. Great views.
Although a Friday, the trails were covered with people, their dogs, and children.
Nice hike from Grays. Crowds weren't bad.
Weather wasn't looking promising, but we got lucky. Despite a bad forecast, there were 50 people on the summit on this particular Sunday. All college-aged; I suppose more experienced hikers stayed home after checking the weather.
Kelso Ridge was a great class 3.
Edwards, Grays and Torreys together from Stevens Gulch trailhead solo. Road open and clear (might change with snow in the forecast!). Lower trail dry, but snow packed up higher, traction can come in handy.
Went up Kelso and down the normal route. Saw a family of goats at around 13,000 ft. Nice day with summer conditions.
After descending Grays...hiked up Torreys, grabbed the summit, and headed back. Easy round trip. Almost 5 hours exactly for both. 2h to Grays, 1h 30m back from Torreys. Toss a few more 14ers on the pile.
Via Kelso Ridge
Loved the final approach from the Grays/Torrey's saddle.
My 10th and 11th Fourteeners and Kieva's 4th Fourteener! Kieva and I hit the approach trail at 4:00 am and made it back to the trailhead at 11:15 am. We climbed Torreys Peak via the Kelso Ridge, a class 3 rock climb with a ton of exposure. We climbed some class 4 rock as well and had to cross a "Knife Edge" towards the end of the ridge, a section that you must carefully navigate because it was only inches wide. We summited Torreys Peak and then took an easy trail up neighboring 14er Grays Peak. An awesome climb.
These Colorado 14ers are WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL
Classic scramble up Torreys was as advertised!
Done with Grays.
Epic day. Great route for avoiding the crowds on the weekend.
perfect day, not a cloud in the sky. Visibility was second to non.
Next time will do the ridge
Hike over after Grays on the standard route. Gray's was good, but Torrey's was very icy, though less windy. Great hike.
