Overview

Trail Ridge is actually another peak along the spine of the Wasatch Plateau. Since Skyline Drive travels high atop the peak's western flank and the actual ridge is 2.5 miles long, it doesn't receive the title of peak. However, it is the second highest point in the central region of the Wasatch Plateau after Cove Mountain.

Getting There

Take State Road 31 (Ephraim Canyon Road) east from Ephraim 8-9 miles and turn right (south) on Skyline Drive and drive 4 miles south. Take a left on Forest Road 0040 and drive an additional 0.25 miles. Park on the side of the dirt road.

Route

A straight shot east from the parking site.
Round-trip Distance: 0.25 miles
Elevation Gain: 40 feet

Red Tape

US Forest Service manages this area. No permit is required. You can park near the restrooms in the southern part of the campground without any trouble. Practice "Leave No Trace" ethics.
