Dandelion-head of Yellow Salsify in moonlight

Tragopogon dubius. The Greek genus names means goat-beard. Before the seed heads release their featherlight parachutist seeds, their parachutes (pappus in scientific terminology) ripen pressed together in a manner of a shaving-brush (or, if you will, goat's beard). The species is European in origin. This year, it positively thrives at mid-elevations of Wasatch mountain. On a pre-dawn Millcreek trip, I just couldn't resist shooting the full Moon though a feathery ball of salsify seeds. Grandeur Peak, 7/19/08 5:33 am

Thanks Marc, I like the composition of this shot a lot but technically it ought to have been much better. But, since I took it on the 28th mile of a night-long run, I guess I have some excuses for not using better gear - or for that matter, more patience :)

You have great pictures BTW, why won't you start attaching at least some of them to the SP mountain pages where they truly belong?

Thank you for thinking that my photos are good too. To tell you the truth I have no idea how to attach them to the mountain pages at SP, or even how to locate such pages.
