Gigantic crevasses and seracs...

Gigantic crevasses and seracs in the icefall en route to Gasherbrum III. It is not as unstable as for example Khumbu icefall, so the dangers of collapsing seracs are minimal. Extreme caution has to be taken with the enormous crevasses, which sometimes opens without much warning.

A very nice looking glacier, but also dangerous in parts. We had rotten weather the whole season with lots of snowfall. Many of the crevasses were hidden and four persons fell into the drak abysses. Fortunately all where roped and could be saved.
