Granite domes of Yosemite Valley and high country
Domes are formed when plutons under tremendous pressure cool and harden as they reach the earths surface through tectonic uplift. Relieved of overhead pressure the layers peel and flake off as glaciation adds the smooth finishing touches.Starting here with a few shots, feel free to add to the theme.
