I would like to thank Andreea, Gorzi, Peterbud and Yaykoilemske for native-speaker corrections, Kamil for his help with the Serbian language, and all the photographers for their beautiful pictures we have a pleasure to gaze at. The photos prove that the Carpathians are both beautiful and - despite being made up of several parts that differ a little from one another - quite homogenous, both in natural and cultural terms. While picking pictures for this dictionary (all were taken in the Carpathians) I was trying to avoid featuring those already displayed on the following pages:
As much as we crave the Vast Wilderness, I learned to appreciate almost equally strongly those littlesnippets of wild, the patchwork of the Original Nature in the places which are closer to civilization. |
