Salomon S-LAB XT 5 Softground
Product Description
Designed for long distance trail performance, the Salomon XT S-Lab 5 is the weapon of choice for runners looking to challenge both nature and themselves.
Salomon is known for their highly technical, performance-oriented trail running products. From their footwear to their hydration packs, every product is designed to bring the serious trail runner everything they need to compete in nature. For this reason, we weren’t surprised to see the intense features and bold styling of the XT S-Lab 5 – this is not a shoe for the faint of heart trail runner.
The XT S-Lab 5 sports a traditional geometry with a 10mm heel-to-toe offset – a departure from the low profile shoes that continue to be popular in the trail running world. With a medial post for mild overpronation support, this design remains ideal for high mileage running in which cushioning and protection take precedence over a close ground feel.
The moderately lugged outsole offers good traction, from hardpack terrain to somewhat technical trails. A Softground version of the XT 5 is also available, featuring larger lugs for increased traction on snow, mud, or loose rock.
The XT 5’s upper is tailor-made for long distance comfort. Welded overlays create a seamless upper, leaving little to rub the foot the wrong way while providing a secure fit. A gusseted tongue keeps debris from entering the shoe, and the quicklace system offers a tight and uniform fit, without having to worry about laces coming untied. A lace garage on the tongue ensures nothing gets snagged on trail hazards.
With no shortage of features for high mileage performance and comfort, this shoe is right at home in the most unforgiving ultramarathons and mountain adventures.
