Great pack.
Love the harness, after breaking my collar bone (and having a lump from it), I had a lot of trouble with pack harness...the ascent was the answer i needed.

Only problem no hydro system.

The gear loops are well placed and very handy.
I have had the ascent for over two years now and have found it to be very hard wearing, it is only now starting to show wear on the hip harness from rubbing against my climbering harness ..i guess.

I've had this pack a couple of eyars now, and I've really enjoyed having it. It is fairly simple (which I like), well built, and waterproof.

The only minor comment I have is that it has been in hold-luggage a couple of times during flights and has a small nick in the hood. This has been there for some time now, and isn't getting any bigger (it's about a 1/4 inch), so the rip-stop nature of the fabric seems good. On the other hand, I was slightly disappointed that such a supposedly tough fabric could be damaged so easily.

The other very good thing about it is that the Aztec fabric is very waterproof. Water runs off it rather than soaking into the material, so you don't end up carrying a couple of liters of water

Good all rounder
I have had this pack (size three in blue) for a while now and have found it an excellent all rounder. From easy alpine climbs with camps and all out camping hikes in the uk, it has always met the challenge. The back fitting is very versatile and can be made to fit like a glove. The padded belt makes it extremely comfortable even after a full day fully loaded. The gear loops and bungy ensure all necessary equipment is kept close at hand without having to stuff it inside or have it dangling around. The cynic in me never believed a rucksack could be waterproof, but this one has proven to be. The extendable hood and multiplicity of straps ensure the load is always catered for and held firmly in place. The lack of external pockets and the slight tapering make ensure that it never gets in the way when scrambling etc. I have found in use that the fabric does tear and slowly fray. The only aspect that is slightly annoying is it doesn't really suit a hydrating system. There is a hole that the tube can go through but invariably this being behind your head means the tube being slightly too short. Sometimes I take a bottle rather than Hoser and so if the side 'pockets' were slightly deeper it would be easier to stuff one in these.
