Approach
From Denver drive Interstate 70 west to exit 240 (Highway 103) in Idaho Springs. Follow signs to Mt. Evans. At Echo Lake there is a booth where you have to pay a fee to use the road to Mt. Evans. Follow signs from here to Summit Lake. If you want to camp to acclimate, you can park on the shoulder of the road at any spot near Summit Lake. There is a good wide shoulder area a few hundred yards before Summit Lake parking lot.
Route Description
From Summit Lake, hike up the Mt. Evans road about a half mile until you pass the obvious northeast ridge. There between two ridges you will see the northeast face covered with boulders and talus. There is a faint climbers path that climbs up the middle of this face. The first half is rocks and small plants which changes to mostly rocks and large boulders. Once you reach the parking area, there is an easy path on the right to the true summit. From the road to the summit is about another half mile.
