Why?

I climbed Mt. Katahdin fourteen times between 1984 and 1990. Recently I was going through some old papers and came across a log I kept of the adventures. I thought that posting the information here would help trip planners assess potential weather conditions they might encounter on the summit.

The Climbs

Katahdin Climbs

The most challenging climb was certainly the winter excursion, which took about 12 hours round trip from the Katahdin Stream bunkhouse. We had to break a lot of trail through deep snow.

My fastest ascent was the last climb up the Abol Trail, 1:57 base to summit. Shortly thereafter we moved away from Northern Maine and I earned the name
"Florida Frank".
