Overview
One of the most popular climbing walls in Morskie Oko basin - thanks to a short approach and excellent rock. It is also one of the most serious faces in Polish Tatras following its length and demand for own protection placing abilities of the climbers who wants to climb it. North-east face of Kazalnica is 350 m. wide and 400-450 m. high, although the climbing part is not higher than 300 m.
Kazalnica is formed by a face in a ridge that comes down from Mieguszowiecki Szczyt Czarny (2398 m.) towards Czarny Staw pod Rysami (Black Pond below Rysy). The top of Kazalnica can be reached by a tourist trail that starts at Morskie Oko shelter and goes through a bank of Czarny Staw, then the top of Kazalnica and reaches Mieguszowiecka Przelecz pod Chlopkiem - a pass between Mieguszowiecki szczyt Czarny and Mieguszowiecki Szczyt Posredni (2393 m.).
The easiest route is 'Korosadowicz' chimney which is graded III, usually climbed in a winter because of rotten and usually wet rock. The second easy route is 'Lapinski' chimney graded VI-, which is one of the most popuar routes both in summer and winter conditions.
Getting There
From Zakopane drive by car or by bus to Polana Palenica (you can park your car there). Then go on foot 10 km to Morskie Oko (Eye of the Sea) shelter. Starting from the shelter take a tourist trail to Rysy. When you reach Czarny Staw (Black Pond) - turn right and surround it closely to the pond shore along a narrow, unmarked trail. Approach takes usually 1 hour from the Morskie Oko shelter. Climbers usually do not go as far as the top of Kazalnica - from the most of climbing routes they usually traverse to the right and reach the tourist trail that comes from Czarny Staw to Mieguszowiecka Przelecz pod Chlopkiem. Descending takes usually 1 hour from the point where you untie your rope, through the traverse and descend along the tourist trail to the Czarny Staw.
When To Climb
All over the year. Summer conditions are the best starting with early July till late October.

Stay in Morskie Oko shelter (open all year long, phone: +48 18 2077609) or - from July to August - at mountaineering camp at Wlosienica (10 minnutes below the shelter).
