had one deteriorate this quick...the price of getting them light no doubt...but I just bought this belay/rappel locker earlier this year....I do bring a lot of folks up on 2nd with double ropes with a Black Diamond Guide...but of course most of this wear is the heat generated on doubles during rappel....as much of a weight freak as I am, I will stick with a more substantial personal locker. I don't recommend this biner for the full time climber. The grooves are actually deeper than they look in this photo.

I bought a couple for canyoneering use because of their light weight, ample size and good price. After a few months of use, I haven't noticed the problem that Dow mentions above, but I will be vigilant for it.

but it did wear out fast. This carabiner got grooves so deep that I threw it out after about 2 years. Price is right though.
