Re: Perfect setting :

Well Liba .. I know the mountains mean a
lot to you; you gotta hang in there, and
some kind of miracle is bound to come your way ..

"Climb every mountain,
fjord every stream!
Follow every rainbow!
'Till you find your dream."

Re: Perfect setting :

Wherever I lay my hat, that's my home.

Wow, a big gust of wind just blew my hat
into the upper branches of a pine tree.

Guess I have to climb up there & get it!

: ))

Re: Wow!

Thanks Andre... I liked this one, but I guess way too many photos of Cotopaxi on SP, so not so interesting for most people.

Great suggestion!

Suggestive and wonderful image.
Also here big, imposing and at the same time with this gentle soft atmosphere!
I prefer this closer view.

Re: Doomy!

Thank you Janne, the mountain was doomy with me, but I will go back and deal with that.

Hi Liba, so you were also in Equador as me! Congratulations for Illiniza Norte summit, and for this amazing picture! I love Cotopaxi, and the light of this shot gives it a very dramatic impression!
Thanks,

Re: Great Picture!

Thank you again Edoardo. I love this capture of Cotopaxi - it is all like it looked like, no photoshop at all.

Cotopaxi radical changes to the volcano.

Was able to Climb and summit on July 25,2015 prior to all the eruptions. The glacier and the ice have melted and will create radical changes. When and if they open climbing back up will be interesting. Some of the ice formations will still be there, and new ones will be formed. July 25th I was lucky to get to the top, as there was a lot of new snow and the winds were strong, probably 60_70 kilometers per hour. Snow depth in some places was at least a meter high.I had some sunglasses that had been blown off my face and had lost my mittens, when they went flying down the volcano before a final ascent. Our guide Nelson had a friend take them back to the refuge. I borrowed one mitten from Max the German climber that was behind me. Near the end, I was weakened due to only eating one candy bar on the way up, and only drinking about half a liter of water on the way up. My water bottle fell out of the side of my backpack on the way down.My eyes were pounded by the ashes and the flying ice and this was noticed at my hostel after I returned. The next day, I went to a clinic and was given medication to treat this. I was very happy to have gone up before this eruption, and I would like to try to go up again after it calms down to see any changes in the ice.
