John Denver Peak

The dogs and I jogged up over Mt. Sopris and to John Denver Peaks.

Route is in good condition. Lots of other hikers out on a weekend.
Thomas Lakes Trail
 

Took half hour from the Sopris Summit to get to John Denver Peaks and a half hour back.

Made good time across the snow field, a lot faster than the talus field that passes as a trail. Even got a little boot skiing on the way down from the east summit!
And I took a picture of the old dog with Capitol Peak in the background.

John Denver was in my head for a while on the summit. Not that lame thing about getting high, it was something about a hawk and an eagle. I'm not sure I understood it completely.
We jogged down and swam in Thomas Lakes, real great spot for a swim.

No it is NOT John Denver Peak. Have fun in your little delusional world. maybe tomorrow you can climb Justin Beiber Mt. with a funky little pop beat in your head.

I would like to think John Denver would be horrified of the idea of renaming West Sopris after him.

I agree, the petition is to rename the East Peak.

It certainly is not official and it makes me ill to imagine the east summit (it is the east summit) being named John Denver Peak. If it ever becomes an official (a big if) those of us that have grown up in the valley will never accept it.

Good trip report but I can't give you a 10 because it is NOT John Denver Peak and you dont even have your beta right. That ridiculous petition is for the east summit so when you say you hiked from the summit of Sopris over to "John Denver" you are wrong on several levels.
