White Tank Campground

White Tanks Campground

Bovine Dome is the name given to a dome like feature located next to a park access/snow gate along the east entrance (Cottonwood/Pinto Basin Road). Just east of the White Tank Campground is a parking area on your right. A dirt road at this parking area continues for the Stirrup Tank trail head. Bovine Dome has three decent routes jammed together at its north west corner. Two of these three are given a thumbs up in Miramontes guide: Where Two Deserts Meet (5.8) and Los Tres Bovines (5.10c). The other route on this corner is ancient by Jtree standards, established in 1969 by Don O’Kelly and his son: Upevil (5.7).

From the main park loop road, head east at the Cottonwood junction (Pinto Basin and/or Cottonwood Springs Road). Drive past both campgrounds, Belle and White Tank. Fairly immediate after White Tank, turn right at Bovine Dome (parking area). Walk around the right side to best access these four routes.
