Great for begginers
don't start people off in discomfort, allow them to grow into a more technical shoe. I love this for a first shoe, better than the old La Sportiva Cliff in my opinion. Have started several folks off in these, used to be Cliff believer, just think this is a little more form fitted and technical without going too far. Backcountry.com has them on sale, December, 2007.

Too much room
I purchased there shoes after my Mad Rock Phoenix's were cramping my feet...
My toes had to jam into these 5.10's and there was quite a bit of room behind my heel
I would recommend not purchasing these...even for a beginner!
