Product Description

Per the DMM Website:

The V Twin is our new, premium belay device. It is made from stainless steel for durability and better heat management. It stays a lot cooler on long abs when compared to it's aluminium counterparts.

We spent a long time playing around with the directional teeth in the body so that they allow you to easily control the friction without the side effects of the ropes sticking when you want to pay out quickly. This unit works well on all ropes from skinny 8.0s to fat 10.5s - as usual all the DMM office personnel were roped in to test this comprehensively at the local wall, however the prize goes to Mr. Desroy for taking repeated falls onto a (backed-up) new 8.0mm rope....

It uses the same nylon covered retaining wire as that used on the Bug because this has a proven history of good durability.

Technical Features

- Only 89g.
- Designed for 8.0 to 10.5mm ropes.
- Manufactured from stainless steel using lost wax investment casting

Personal Experience

This thing is awesome! Easy to use, bights the rope when lowering your partner and when rappeling. Amzingly, has almost No HEAT retention, none. It is 3/4 the size of the BD GUIDE ATC. I love it for Sport and Trad stuff. The SS will not wear anywhere near as any aluminium device will. Matched by no other IMHO! Cheap as well at $19.95. Another great, engineered and well thought out product by DMM.

It think it works well. Although i have found at times, the grip 'teeth' have been a little to grippy. Not that that matters, it's cheap and it does the job, just spin it round!
