Overview
Long Ridge is the highpoint of San Mateo County. Most of the ridge is located in Long Ridge Open Space, managed by the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District. The highpoint itself is on private property, about 200 yards from the park boundary.
Red Tape
The highpoint is on private property and should not be visited without permission. The area is surrounded by high fences and the owner's house is 100 feet away, with an excellent view of the summit.
Guided visits were available from about 2004 to 2008. Due to several trespassing incidents and subsequent legal action, this is no longer the case. There appears to be
no legal access to the summit at this time. For current status contact MROSD ranger Loro Paterson:

Getting There
Long Ridge Open Space Preserve is located on Highway 35 about 3.6 miles north of the intersection with Highway 9 and 3.3 miles south of the intersection with Page Mill Road.
The summit is located off of Portola Heights Road, which is gated and closed to hikers.

Highest pointI belive the highest point in san mateo county is actually Borel Hill located in he russian ridge osp. Long ridge is unique that it contains the intersection of three counties santa clara, san mateo, and santa cruz. The pimt i think you are referring to is actually a bit lower than Borel. The highest point isn long ridge, turtle rock is higher but falls within santa cruz county, atleast this is how i understand it

OopsI stand corrected i see the pint you refer to on the topo map, interstingly it seems it never has been surveyed for an accurate elevation. Maybe that why it has been oberlooked by those who told me borel is the highest , a number of individuals, curious.

Access correctionsI contacted Mr. Jones for the following corrections to be made. Do not contact Loro. She has retired. Contact Coby King at coby@hpstrat.com to get your name on the wait list. Coby is a fellow climber. He can also be contacted on peakbagger.com. Coby arranges two maybe three visits a year with the owner Ron M.
