They are not on the Monte Rosa glaciers, they are below on rocks and meadows, near streams and lakes

Rocks of the Monte Rosa massif are not composed of dolomite. They are rather build by some acidic minerals. There are common here metamorphic gneiss and green and very soft sericite slates. These rocks have a lot of red and brown garnets. Hematite and goethite are also common minerals in hard rocks having often thick white veins of pure quarz. On soils created by the above rocky material we can observe an original plant vegetation. Pictures included into this album were taken during my August 2007 trekking in this area.
