Locating The "Smoking Gun"

When locating this route, reference Thunderbird Wall's east face. Look right (north) and uphill from Thunderbird and locate an adjacent wall, known as the Gunfighter Wall. There is a detached pillar on the left end of this wall. Facing south, on this pillar, is 'Smoking Gun'. The start of the route begins on a open flat slab.

Firing The Gun

The first bolt is roughly 9 to 10 feet off the deck. Some taller people maybe able to make a subtle step up and clip the bolt before casting off. The crux moves, small patina plates, are in between the first and second bolts. Crank to the second bolt then climb past it onto the pillars' slabby section. Clip two more bolts along the way before reaching the chained anchors (70').

Gear

(4) quickdraws

Parents refers to a larger category under which an object falls. For example, theAconcagua mountain page has the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits' asparents and is a parent itself to many routes, photos, and Trip Reports.
