Berrian Mountain is a mountain summit in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains of North America. The 9,151-foot (2,789 m) peak is located 0.9 miles (1.5 km) north-northeast (bearing 17°) of the community of Aspen Park in Jefferson County, Colorado, United States.
According to Jefferson County Archives, Berrian Mountain was named after George, Dan, and Ray Berrian and the Berrian family who came from Kansas to Colorado in 1887. Previously, it may have been called McIntyre Mountain after Duncan McIntyre, who owned property on the east side of the mountain where Midway House is located.
Trailhead: S. Armadillo Trail Rd
Getting Here: From Highway 285 in Aspen Park, Colorado take CO73 towards Evergreen. Drive about 2.5 miles to Gray Fox Drive for about a mile and bear right onto S. Armadillo Trail. Continue for 2.2 miles until you reach the unsigned and unmarked trailhead on the right side of the road.
Fees: There is no fee to hike Berrian Mountain.
Parking: Parking for Berrian Mountain is very limited, approximately around 5 – 6 can fit in designated ‘’parking’’ area. Weekends are definitely busier than weekdays, early start likely will give you better parking chances. There are no restrooms at the trailhead and parking is along the road, so please be respectful of residents when parking.
My Alltrails 3D Route:
The trail passes through private property before taking you up to the ridge. When passing through private property easements and right-of-ways it is especially important to stay on the path and respect posted guidance. Local officials and private landowners work in partnership to provide public access to this area. Staying on the path while on private property ensures that agreements between local officials and the landowner are upheld and that this trail remains open to the public in the future.
Year Round
Camping is prohibited on this hike and in Denver Mountain Parks in general.
