Colorado's 100 Highest Mountains

Climbing all of Colorado's 100 tallest mountains (also known as the Centennials) is a considerable mountaineering achievement that has been accomplished by considerably fewer people than the Colorado fourteener list. Hopefully this will prove a good reference for consolidating all of these wonderful peaks in a single place. This group of peaks makes for quite an amazing buildup of outdoor hiking, scrambling, and snow climbing experience for people who are new to mountaineering and hiking in general. Many people, myself included, started hiking the easier 14ers such as Elbert, Massive etc and began getting more comfortable tackling some of the easier 13ers without established trails (talus hiking).

Over time, and after enough different ascents, new climbers begin to try the harder 14ers like the ones in the Elk Range, while continuing to gain more experience with all around mountain travel, including efficiently walking on scree/talus/snow, orienteering, mountain weather, gear improvements, exposed scrambling, and finally, bridging into the realm of technical climbing. There are three peaks on this list that are rated as low 5th class via their easiest route (Teakettle, Dallas, and Jagged), and they make a great capstone for new mountaineers to gauge their progress on. I owe the very start of my climbing career to this list of peaks, and learned so much as I climbed them in my days at college.

Elevation Note: These elevations reflect the heights measured by the 1929 Sea Level Datum. These are the classic and standard elevations. The 1988 datum (which bumps all of these mountains up 4-7 feet), however, is considered more accurate.
