Overview
Willard Peak is the highest peak in Weber County, and generally considered the northernmost peak in the Wasatch Mountains (with the next section being the Wellsville Range). Despite the fact you'd have to travel all the way south to the Mill Creek/Big Cottonwood Ridge to find a higher peak, it is relatively unknown except among those who pursue county highpoints. Nearby Ben Lomond isn't as high, but is far more popular amongst the locals.
Getting There
Willard Peak is usually climbed with Ben Lomond via the popular Skyline Trail. A rough 4WD road leads up the backside to Willard Basin. If you can get there, the climb is a cakewalk.
Red Tape
No permits required unless camping overnight in Willard Basin at one of the designated campsites.
When To Climb
Willard and Ben Lomond can usually be reached free of snow in mid-June from the Skyline trail. Because it faces north, Willard Basin remains snowy and wet into July.
