Arnales

Overview

The peak Arnales has identity and own route but well could be considered a satellite of the Picos del Infierno. The gap that separates it of the Infierno Oriental it's that caused identify it as main top in the list of 3000m of the Pyrenees. The important difficulty of the ridge that joins with Infiernos does also that a few times it can be considered a complementary ascent eventually route of the Picos del Infierno since the route should be separated in the Lakes of Pondiellos, it being elevated toward the Brecha Arnales forgetting the route of Infiernos.

The inclusion of this peak in the list of main peaks of 3000m has brought it to light but really continues being very overshadowed by the large high and more slender masses of peaks as Garmo Negro and Picos del Infierno.
The final ridge exposed, but not excessively complicated, it will do also that in summer we can enjoy an environment of high mountain without the conglomerations of people of the other easier mountains technically (Garmo Negro) or higher (Picos del Infierno).

Getting There

The trailhead is Balneario de Panticosa (Panticosa's balneary) that one finds near Panticosa's village (6 Km distance ). To come to Panticosa there are several options:

-From Zaragoza to Huesca (72 km), highway. From Huesca or Jaca take direction to Sabiñanigo (point of entry to valley of Tena) and continue to Biescas. From here is easy to Panticosa or Sallent de Gállego to sleep. For the morning go to the Panticosa's balneary to begin the climb.

-From Barcelona: highway A2 to Lleida (or Lérida). From Lleida take N240 in direction to Binefar and Monzón. Follow indications to Panticosa.

Red Tape

No permits.

Important (2006): The parking of Balneario de Panticosa is very little in this moment because the works, it's advisable the arrive early in the morning. For notices about it you can read the information in the section red tape of the page of Garmo Negro
